MTA 2020 Fall Conference COVID Preparedness Information

The Minnesota Telecom Alliance is committed to implementing conscious and intentional processes to combat Covid-19 and keep our attendees safe. We have included some safety tips and precautions we will be taking for the MTA Fall Conference. We are closely monitoring the guidelines of the CDC, WHO and the Minnesota Department of Health and working closely with the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest to evolve these precautions as more information becomes available.

Safety Tips:

  • Wash your hands frequently
    • Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer or wash them with soap and water.
  • Maintain Social Distancing
    • Maintain at least a 6 foot distance between yourself and others.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  • Practice respiratory hygiene
    • Make sure you and those around you follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately and wash your hands.
  • Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.
  • Stay Informed on the latest developments about Covid-19. Follow the advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority on how to protect yourself.

What to expect onsite: Marriott Minneapolis Northwest

  • Marriott Minneapolis Northwest has redefined their cleaning and safety standards. They are actively monitoring and evolving their solutions to ensure a continued focus on health and safety. Here is additional information on what Marriott is doing to ensure your safety which includes increased access to hand sanitizing stations and cleaning of session rooms and high touch surfaces.  

Minnesota Telecom Alliance

  • MTA Staff will continually be sanitizing and cleaning the registration area and nearby high touch surfaces.
  • MTA is encouraging the wearing of masks for all attendees and exhibitors.
  • There will be Covid safety tips at registration and throughout the conference to encourage attendees to practice safe hygiene.
  • General Session and exhibit hall layouts with will be set for adequate space for social distancing
  • Food and Beverage services
    • We are working with the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest to select menus and items that will be in compliance with the guidelines. There will be no self-serve buffets, but breakfast, breaks and receptions will likely include pre-packaged boxes and individual served items.
  • Speakers/Moderators:
    • Each speaker will have own microphone, they will be cleaned between each session/speaker.
    • Slide advancers, mice etc. will be sanitized between each session.
    • Session doors will remain open throughout the sessions to eliminate the high touch areas of opening/closing doors.
